Success stories are sweet, perhaps we all would have been wowed if all I posted was a set of achievements without the caption of how consistent Seth has been.
Seth’s story is one of many not too different success stories that outlines the power of consistency and grit in the journey of greatness and success.
Success is very predictable. Anyone can fall off a ladder by accident but no one climbs a ladder by accident.

Many people desire success but very few are willing to pay the price and meet the demands of the kind of life they desire.
The great guys we celebrate today are the guys that kept going even when no one was cheering or noticing. The truth is that we would not always feel like doing the things we need to do to achieve results but the difference between those who wish for success and those who really want it is the ability to keep at it independent of how they feel.
Mastery in any field requires consistent practice not only on good days but every day, knowing that whatever you give yourself to gives itself back to you. This is what differentiates those who are just interested in success to those who are committed to succeeding.

The important question now is that how did he achieve this level of consistency?
Publishing a blog post for 10 years and more looks big and I must say it is a BIG DEAL, but let’s look at it this way. 10 years is made up of about 522 weeks, 522 weeks has about 3654 days (still big right). What if he told himself to write every day for 7days, another 7 days then another 7 days… A month…two…. One secret to consistency is dividing our actions into small bits. Don’t challenge yourself to write 1000 words for 10 years…No… Rather challenge yourself to write 100 words for 10 days, then another 10, then another 10. The mind finds it easy to receive commands in bits than in large chunks.
Another great driver of consistency is purpose. If there is a strong enough why for what you do, this motivation would keep you going on days you really don’t feel like. I really don’t feel like writing this as I type this, but the thought that somebody needs to read this to get back on his feet to pursue his dreams makes me struggle slowly through my key board.
There is no such thing as super human grit. We are all humans after all and sometimes we don’t just feel ourselves, what differentiates us is a resolve not to be led by how we feel but by a higher drive within us which is often purpose.
Finally, on your journey to consistency, you may need to install personal reward mechanisms to motivate yourself.
The 10,000 hours rule is real, success demands that you master your craft, mastery demands that you are consistent.
Have a great week…Keep at it even if no one is watching…

There’s tremendous power in doing something every single day of your life. While you might not notice its impact on a day to day basis, over the course of a year, 10 years and the course of a lifetime, it will end up having a profound impact on your life- Srinivas Rao
