Never Be a Pest, Be a Butterfly

A young graduate trainee was taking a walk with his boss on his first day of resumption. While at it, they bumped into an old store and the boss decided to ask the new employees 3 questions.

BOSS: if you see a mosquito in here, what will you do?

New employee: I will kill it.

BOSS: if you see a cockroach in here, what will you do?

New employee: I will kill it?
Then his boss took him outside, to the company’s garden and said to him
BOSS: if you see a butterfly out here, what will you do?

New employee: I will let it be.

Then his boss said to him, “never be a pest, be a butterfly”. People will let you be, if only you add beauty & value to their world. Welcome on board…

Lesson: As you go about your daily activities this new week, add beauty & value to people’s life and world. “NEVER BE A PEST, BE A BUTTERFLY”.

Being a butterfly means being of value to others, if you bring happiness and value to people, they’d let you be. They’d even nurture you and the dream you have because they have tied their own happiness and value to it too. I feel it’s the main property that still keeps us here. It’s why Hexavia has such a powerful brand equity and goodwill. It’s the buy-in for this group and vision. Boldness of vision and value is essential. And the truth is, value comes from not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less. As a leader and business man, you need that. In the words of Gerald Brooks, “When you become a leader, you lose the right to think about yourself”.

The same law is applicable to the forces of life. Even in business, to have a winning team, you as a leader must first win for the team. That winning will bring forth joy that attracts the right people to multiply that joy. Winning teams are aligned around a shared vision of success. If you want to attract top performers to your team, you have to first of all be performing to get them excited. There has to be a reason to come to work every day and give it your all.

In the words of John C Maxwell from the book we sometime ago on HBC, he says “Achievement comes to someone when he is able to do great things for himself.
Success comes when he empowers followers to do great things with him.
Significance comes when he developed leaders to do great things for him, but
legacy is created only when a person puts his organization into the position
to do great things without him.”

Have a butterfly filled day. And yeah, because we have added value to you, please don’t forget to refer someone for the masterclass, to Hexavia or even this platform. It’s just a simple step, mail or direct message the person’s details and we’d follow through. #6DegressOfSeperation, #TheMoreTheMerrier
