Diamonds, Gifts and Idiots- Valentine’s Special.

He said, “I was so in love with her, that I once emptied my wallet at a mall including my transport fare to buy her an expensive shoe. I remember that shoe. It was what she wore, the day she cat-walked out of my life”.

Yes, love is in the air, its Valentine’s weekend. And we are all motivated by gifts. It is how human’s show affection. It is even more than human,  for  even one of our holy books states that “a man’s gift maketh way for him”. But what are you giving this season, a mere gift or value.?

How many of us truly show ourselves  or others love by being a giver of value.

I mean, when was the last time you gave someone a non tangible gift that meant more than a feeling, perhaps when was the last time you let your mind think through someone else’s problem to provide a solution (true gift)?

Gifts are good for temporary motivation, even when it is as precious and permanent as a diamond.  But to strike a permanent chord, you need something deeper, a deeper motivation. Diamonds can’t keep the wrong people. My friend will say, that Idiots are like diamonds themselves, they last forever, but  the motivation does not last forever. So when you motivate an idiot, you’ll simply have a temporarily motivated idiot…Ooops!

A gift is a powerful motivation. But the two greatest psychologists, Sigmund Freud and Albert Bandura , both describes the the concept of “Motivation as a temporary solution to a permanent problem”.   The true gift is to give value. This season, let’s give truly by looking at a problem with an intention to solve it. Let’s  get up our butts, take a lead to solve our problems, that problem and that of others. It’s called value. This weekend, let’s go for the kill…

Don’t have a “hand me down” mentality.

You’re not a hyena or a vulture. You don’t just stand there waiting for something to die, waiting for others to kill for you to eat; rather you kill what you eat. Life’s a jungle and you’re a wild animal.

“I am not afraid of an army of lions led by a sheep; I am afraid of an army of sheep led by a lion”.

Be a lion… Be hungry, be passionate!

Fire up.

“One person with passion is better than forty who are merely interested.”

-Tom Connellan

This week of love, give. But most importantly, ensure you give something that truly matters-value.

Go Further Ahead…
