SENATOR IROEGBU: BA- History/International Studies; MSC-Political Economy & Development Studies (In View). 1. PUBLISHER: Senator Iroegbu is the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of Global Sentinel, an online medium dedicated to the effective coverage of defence, security, conflicts and crime related issues. 2. CONSULTANT: MEDIA/COMMUNICATIONS/PUBLIC RELATIONS: Iroegbu is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CanaG Communications Ltd-a media, communications and consultancy firm with a vision to enhance the image of agencies, individuals and corporate organisations towards a better relationship with their clients, customers and target audience. He also participated as a Master Trainer with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme on training the Youth Corps Members on community development under the sponsorship of Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs (OSSAP-MDGs) of Nigeria. 5. PUBLIC AFFAIRS ANALYST: Iroegbu is well sought after by many media platforms because of his depth of knowledge and incisive analysis on issues of local, national and international importance. Profile: Senator Iroegbu, is a seasoned journalist, who was a Senior Reporter and chief Defence Correspondent with THISDAY Newspaper for 12 years. He is a renowned media consultant to reputable organisations and individuals. He has published a number of articles in various media platforms with interest in security, intelligence, politics and development issues. Iroegbu started his journalism career in 2006 with a stint as an Advert Executive and within two years, he was appointed the Head of Debt Recovery Unit in Abuja Bureau. However, within those two years his writing skills and passion was evident as in-depth weekly contributions to the Features and Development pages made him outstanding. Accordingly, in 2008 he was formerly transferred to the Editorial section of the Newspaper by the Publisher and Editor-In-Chief of THISDAY Media Group, Chief Nduka Obaigbena. He was immediately deployed to various beats starting with Energy and Power, Transport and Works, Trade, Commerce, Agriculture and Water Resources. Afterwards he was assigned to cover the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), especially during the hotly contested and violent-marred 2009 Ekiti gubernatorial rerun election between the then Governor Segun Oni of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Kayode Fayemi of Action Congress (AC). He has been a guest to some radio and television stations on defence, security and other topical issues, and as well as resource persons to both the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Directorate of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) and Presidential Committee on Small Arms and Light Weapons (PRESSCOM) events. The seasoned journalist has made his mark with extensive coverage of Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency (CT COIN) operations with frequent but dangerous travels to the North East, the epicentre of Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT). He is a survivor, who has braved many hazardous and life threatening encounters including a narrow escape from death during the Boko Haram attack at the THISDAY Office Regional Office, Abuja in 2012.
