There’s a difference. You are working doesn’t mean that you have a job. You have a job doesn’t mean you have a career. Also, you once made money off something doesn’t necessary mean you did business, those are deals. Deals and jobs are one offs and can be taken away anytime, an event. Business and career grows, it’s a process.
How do you know the difference?
Well, if you’re at work right now and you stare at your watch many a time because you just can’t wait for closing hours to leave where you are, then you’re either in the wrong organization or the wrong field, all you have is what “seems” like job, no passion, no career. Unknown to a lot of people, the three biggest addictions is sex, cigarette and a paid employment (salary). Start a business and maybe you could stop working your life away.
Move from where you are into where you need to be. Ask yourself, would you do what you’re doing now if you were not paid to? Do you do what you do effortlessly, whereas for others it’s hard? If you had the options of 3 jobs including the one you’re in with similar pay, would you choose this one?
Before you continue, where do you see yourself in the next 5years?
Your sincere answers to these questions explains whether what you have is a job or a career in the case of an employee or whether what you’re doing is a deal or a business.
Don’t focus your attention on deals and contracts, build a business. Don’t work your life away. Living for salary is not enough, for your life, the value and greatness you carry. By the main or by the side, begin to build something now, a business. It’s all in your choice and actions. I believe you were put here on earth to do more than go to work, pay bills and die. I believe a man shouldn’t go to work everyday, work for 8 hours at work , go home and not work on your own goal. You can do much more.
