How to overcome fear

Regardless of the source of the fear, it prevents people from really going for what they need to and limits their capabilities.

There is no more sure way to fail than to never try. Get better today!
Take the journey further. Here are some things you should try out:

  1. Understand and embrace fear

Fear exists to keep us safe. But, how safe is safe? Fear is not inherently bad or good but dependent on individual choice, it can be a tool we can use to make better decisions. Fear can help us act in ways that generate the results we need and want. Embrace fear as instruction and let it inform your actions, but not control you and make you inactive.

So, you are afraid of leaving your job to start that business, right? Can you let the fear inform your decision to get training, create a plan/structure, seek advice that would help you build the right business?

Note: Don’t just do something, stand there! Many undertakings have been threatened or ruined by haste alone. When fear strikes consider whether the correct action might be to analyze the options and make a wise, well thought out choice rather than jumping to what seems right in the heat of the moment.

2. Think long term

Still using the example of the employee wanting to take the plunge into entrepreneurship, I would say, think long term. Though thinking long term won’t exactly fix your short term problem, but it can help you take bold steps, think about your situation more objectively and come up with the right solution.

Every time fear comes, look at the outcome of your intended action, 3 months, 3 years and even 5 years from now and you see yourself going for it

3. Educate yourself

Most of the fear we have is so much about the unknown. Bridge the gap of the unknown by getting the right information or knowledge you need to examine the situation based on facts rather than speculation. It is never as bad as you think, inspire your actions with the right knowledge.

Get trained! You can also be part of any of Hexavia’s training – More details to be given later.

4. Get help

Can you find a mentor or support group to help you through it? Athletes have coaches. Students have teachers. Sometimes friends, even if they have no expertise in the area you’re struggling with, can provide the needed support to face your fear.

The good news is we are here. You have trusted support with Hexavia! We are just a DM away.

Simply surround yourself with people who will push you to overcome the fears that are holding you back from what you want. You can also find someone who is doing similar things you want to do, understudy the person to find the recipe and apply them.

5. Keep at it!

In Brian Tracy’s book The Power of Self-Confidence: Become Unstoppable, Irresistible, and Unafraid in Every Area of Your Life he asks “What would you do differently if you were absolutely guaranteed of success in any undertaking?” Would you try more things? Would you keep working long after others would have given up? People who have positive attitudes are successful because they keep trying after others give up.

It is said that “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”

If you’re afraid to do something again because it didn’t work out the last time, figure out why it didn’t work, and try something different before you give up trying altogether.

It’s important to develop grit. Keep at it! There is always light at the end of a tunnel.

Once again, we are open to help you overcome your fears and get started with that business in 2020, simply slide into our DM.

What other ways do things can you do overcome fear?
