Title Deeds (Church for the Streets)

I remember us driving a Nigerian military car without permission at 16. It was owned by a friend’s dad who was a serving military general in Ikoyi. What were we thinking that 2 AM, the night after I wrote my JAMB. Nothing was on us except for Chardonnay, lighters and our crazy friends_.

I am laughing out now, but the frog jump wasn’t funny then. How did we all become responsible today? Mom sleeping in vigil could have been a part of it. Pastor Adeboye knew what he was saying when he said, “don’t marry a wife that can’t pray’. Mom always prayed on us. Well, even at that, that night, we met the police light for the first time and I discovered the power of title deeds because we didn’t have it. “Pull Over! oya come down, show me your papers, show me your particulars”, was all I remembered. This was before the military came and took us over to the guardroom. #ChurchForTheStreets

Title Deeds.

In law and the constitution, there is what you call a Title Deed. It is the proof of ownership. We were in a car without it. The title deed is the legal declaration of what is ours. You are in a car and driving it doesn’t mean it’s yours, same as living in a house as a tenant doesn’t make it yours. As the Nigerian Police will say, “Oga wey your papers?”.

The papers of your car gives you the evidence that the car is yours. When we want to buy a land, we usually ask, does it have “C of O’, that is, Certificate of Ownership, as the title deed. The same is true for us as Christians. You should have a title deed. When your case is tabled in hell, your title deed can stand for you. No court even in heaven or on earth can take away ownership of something that belongs to you if you have the title deed for it.

Our title deed to the promises found in God’s word is called faith. Hebrews 11:1 says in the Amplified Bible, “NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]” ( Hebrews 11:1 AMP). We could say it this way, faith is the title deed of the things that God has promised to us in His word. If we have the title deed to the promises, it means we own them.

If God spoke it in His word then that is a promise and we can use our faith or title deed to own those precious promises spoken by him. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In Calculus and advanced mathematics, the topic Limit and Continuity explains a correlation. A limit in mathematics is a number that a function approaches as the independent variable of the function approaches a given value. For example, given the function f (x) = 3x , you could say, “The limit of f (x) as x approaches 2 is 6. In faith and reality, they both should coincide at zero to rip its benefit. What I mean is, until your conviction and doubt is closed down to zero, real faith cannot move from being seen as an abstract concept into reality. When that happens, you will know. At that point, you can feel things move for you.

Faith is like Wi-Fi, it may be invisible but it posses the power to connect you to what you need. Faith is taking the first step, even when you don’t see the whole staircase. Faith is calmness in an situation because of the words of Exodus 14 :14 (the lord will fight for you and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest). If you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.

As businessmen, make faith your title deed and let the Hexavian Laws be your principles and then allow the excellence in your endeavour be the competence that backs that titled deed. Happy Sunday. #ChurchForTheStreets is a Sunday HexavianSeries
